I wanted to personally extend warm wishes to all of you as we approach another holiday season. I am very impressed by the recent results of the Thanksgiving food drive. The way that this Department pulled together and once again proved what can be done when we work collectively is nothing short of amazing.
Firefighters for Families will be providing wrapped gifts and Christmas dinner for over 70 families this year, which is double what we were able to do last year. We receive our families through assistance from members of the SJC schools administration as they have an intimate relationship with those truly in need. While we will always serve the community as a whole, I wanted to reach out to the members of our Department this year. I feel it only appropriate to make sure that our families and the families of all who serve this County are eligible for assistance if the situation calls for it. If you or someone you know could use our services, please feel free to call me. I will personally review each case with the other board members and a decision will be made on an individual basis as well as keeping everything confidential.
