Christmas Party 2008

December 6, 2008 marked the 8^th annual Christmas party for St Johns County Fire Rescue.  With extensive planning and hard work from many members of the Local IAFF 3865; good food, alcohol, great company, and lots of dancing was offered to anyone that decided to go.  It is one of St Johns Counties Fire and Rescue greatest traditions; it is a party that marks the importance of brotherhood and togetherness that is sometimes lost throughout the year. 

The Firefighter and Paramedic of the year were announced and presented the counties most prestigious annual award.  These awards, Paramedic of the year and Firefighter of the year, were presented to Lt Mickey Shatto for Paramedic and Eng Jeff Merwick for Firefighter.  It is the greatest honor for all members of the department to congratulate these two on their newest achievement.  

The committee firefighters that helped make this event a reality are dedicated members of the IAFF and the Department.  Special thanks go to Mike Gallatin and Mike Dietrich for all their work in organizing and preparing for this traditional event.  Further appreciation goes to the crew members of Engine 4, Engine 12, and Tanker 4 (Lt Andrew O’Quinn, ENG Charles Smith, Firefighter Bear, Naff, Miller, and Ford).  Without the help of all these individuals involved, another great tradition would have died like so many in the past.
